| August 8, 2009 | | Johnny Collins Gets First Win in 2009 | By Jack Smith
Johnny Collins led every lap at Waycross Motor Speedway on Saturday night enroute to his first win of the 2009 United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series racing season.
Collins spoke to UDLMCS announcer Rick Anges after the race. "Too fast, too quick. The car got loose about 16 laps in, but I was able to pick my line because I was up front. The track was really good, we used last year's notes on the track and it was good enough for a win."
Mark Whitener, points leader coming into the 50 lap feature, was running second in the race until a restart on lap 23. Officials ruled Whitener went below the safety cone on the restart and was sent to the rear. He came back to finish 5th, but will relinquish the points lead to Jason Fitzgerald who followed Collins across the finish line.
Dusty Cone, last year's Waycross winner, was running in the top three when mechanical issues forced him to the pits and out of the race.
Seventeen cars took the green and only 10 were there at the end.
