Keith Nosbisch Wins Battle on the Blacktop

Keith Nosbisch drew the pole position in the pill draw, took the lead on the start and won the Battle on the Blacktop at Charlotte County Motorsports Park Saturday night.

Jason Fitzgerald was one of the hardest working drivers in the race. He battled the first 20 laps with Collins for the second spot, finally getting by just before the one and only spin of the race. Dennis Williams spun by himself with 15 to go, setting up a spectacular 15 lap duel between Fitzgerald and Nosbisch.

Rich Pratt set fast time to earn the Ziegler Racing Engines Fast Qualifier Award. Unfortunately Pratt had to leave the race at lap 14 due to an oil pressure issue.

Fitzgerald hounded Nosbisch every inch of the way to the checkered flag, several times making contact with the 102.5 machine. In the winners circle Nosbisch said he had a bad cylinder slowing his car down in the closing laps, add that if Fitzgerald would have tried the outside groove he probably would have passed him and won the race.

Fitzgerald increased his points lead over Mark Whitener and Johnny Collins.
